2019 Human Resources Roundtable Breakfast Series

December 4, 2019 @ 3:00 am - 4:00 am

These sessions will be informal and engaging and will be conducted by our experienced labor and employment attorneys. The topics will include common and challenging employment and HR issues. These interactive sessions are designed to provide you an opportunity to learn and discuss strategies for minimizing legal exposure. You will also have an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other professionals in a relaxed, informal environment.

Topics That We Will Cover

We will have a facilitated discussion at each session about a particular subject area and will provide, when appropriate, sample policies, forms and other written materials. We may invite outside speakers to facilitate the discussion.

The tentative schedule and topics for the sessions is below.  Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on other noteworthy developments that occur during the year.

May 22:  Your Leave of Absence Toolkit: We will review policies, request forms and form letter to help HR professionals manage employee leaves of absence.

June 20:  2019 Connecticut Legislative Update: Paid FMLA? Recreational marijuana? Revised harassment laws? In this special two-hour presentation, we will review what passed (and perhaps what didn’t) in what is expected to be an eventful 2019 legislative session.

August 21:  Termination Checklists: We will help you cover your bases and prepare for common issues that arise in the separation process. This will include discussion of unemployment notices, final payment of wages, return of company property, enforcing restrictive covenants and minimizing exposure to claims.

December 4:  Wellness Programs: We will review trends in wellness programs and other initiatives that employers are taking to control health insurance costs. We will also highlight the different categories of wellness programs and the basic requirements applicable to each category.

Who Should Attend

The sessions are designed principally for Human Resources professionals and in-house counsel. Some sessions, however, may be of interest to other company departments such as workplace diversity, corporate compliance, and information technology.
