Every employer wants (or should want) to increase diversity within its workforce for a multitude of important business and social reasons. However, federal law restricts what an employer can ask about an applicant’s race, gender, LGBTQ+ status, disability, and other key aspects of diversity, and prohibits making employment decisions based on those characteristics.
