The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s (DECD) Office of Community Development (OCD) has announced funding availability under Round 24 for the State’s Municipal Brownfield Grant, Targeted Brownfield Development Loan, and Brownfield Area-Wide Revitalization Grant programs, and is inviting applications for same.
The deadline to submit applications to DECD for this funding round, which has a $25 million pool of available funds, is Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and funds are anticipated to be announced by November/December 2026.
The Municipal Brownfield Grant Program funding is available to municipal applicants for costs associated with investigating, remediating, and developing a “brownfield.” DECD encourages public-private partnerships and structures pass-through grants from eligible municipal applicants to private partner entities.
The Targeted Brownfield Development Loan Program is designed to provide low-interest loans for eligible costs of brownfield remediation projects to potential brownfield purchasers and certain current brownfield owners who are not directly responsible for property conditions and are seeking to revitalize such brownfield.
The Brownfield Area-Wide Revitalization (BAR) Planning Grant Program is aimed at helping eligible applicants (municipalities, land banks, economic development agencies and the like) develop comprehensive implementation plans for transforming underutilized neighborhoods burdened with brownfield properties into coveted community assets.

This announcement comes on the heels of another exciting funding opportunity for “Greyfield” revitalization projects. Greyfields are previously developed spaces that are no longer economically viable or have significantly declined in use or occupancy. DECD recently announced a pilot funding round related to redevelopment of these types of properties. Applications for this inaugural round can by submitted by August 5, 2026.
