The State of Connecticut has issued guidelines to gradually reopen businesses that were shut-down due to the pandemic. Over the next several weeks and months employers will be looking to bring their employees back into the physical workplace. In doing so, employers must comply with the new state guidelines and provide a safe workplace for employees to return.

Employer also must be ready to handle a variety of issues that are likely to arise such as employees who are unable (e.g., due to medical or child-care reasons) or unwilling to return to work.

• Should employers allow employees to continue to work remotely?
• Can an employer discipline or terminate an employee who refuses to return to work?
• Can an employer contest an employee’s right to unemployment compensation?
• What are an employer’s rights and obligations under the Americans With Disabilities Act, the FMLA, and the newly enacted FFCRA?
