Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP is pleased to announce the Honorable Salvatore C. Agati, who recently retired from the Connecticut Superior Court, will be joining the firm as a partner later this summer. Judge Agati will join the firm’s Litigation practice as a key member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution group, where he will be developing his practice as a private mediator and arbitrator across Connecticut.

Judge Agati, who lives in Watertown, was confirmed by the Connecticut General Assembly as a Judge of the Superior Court in Connecticut in November 2000. During his career on the Bench, Judge Agati was assigned primarily to the Civil and Complex litigation dockets. He also served as the Administrative Judge and Presiding Judge for Civil in Waterbury. Prior to serving on the Bench, Judge Agati was a partner in the firm of Rinaldi, Zipoli, Bruno, and Agati.

Judge Agati will be taking on mediation and arbitration matters beginning in September 2022. He will be conducting in-person mediations and arbitrations at the firm’s New Haven, Waterbury, and Stamford offices, as well as remote mediations and arbitrations.

Commenting on the appointment, Managing Partner, Richard L. Street said: “We’re fortunate to be joined by such an esteemed judge and mediator as Judge Agati. As one of the most requested judicial mediators in Connecticut, Judge Agati brings with him a depth of knowledge and experience in dispute resolution that will further strengthen Carmody’s leading ADR capabilities.”

Judge Agati added: “I look forward to joining the Carmody team. It has been an honor to serve as a Connecticut Superior Court Judge for the past 20 years and I look forward to this next chapter in my legal career in assisting parties to reach resolution of their disputes.”
