Amanda C. Nugent (she/her) is the Director of Talent & Diversity at Carmody. In this role, Amanda leads the firm’s people operations and human resources functions, including managing the Firm’s mentoring, recruiting and professional development programs. Amanda also leads Carmody’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives both internally and in partnership with clients and community partners, and manages the Firm’s internship programs for high school, college and law school students who are underrepresented in the law. Amanda is a frequent speaker, writer and trainer on issues related to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and advises clients on their DEI strategic plans and goals. Prior to her appointment to this management position, Amanda was a partner at Carmody, practicing commercial litigation in Connecticut’s state and federal courts for 15 years.
Amanda has received numerous professional distinctions, including most recently the Excellence in Business Award from the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce in 2021. Amanda was selected for inclusion in Connecticut Super Lawyers® in the area of Business Litigation in 2020 and was the recipient of the 2018 CBA Federal Practice Section Pro Bono Award, as chosen by the Judges of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Outside of work, Amanda is active in the New Haven Chamber’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, the United Way of Greater Waterbury’s DEI Advisory Council, and with Albertus Magnus College’s FALCON leadership program. Amanda is a 2007 graduate of Boston College Law School and a 2003 graduate of New York University, where she majored in journalism.
