DESCRIPTION:On June 18\, Jen Yoxall will present “Municipal Drone Programs: FAA Legal Requirements and How to Protect the Public\, Your Program\, & Your Personnel” for the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities. \nAbout the Program  \nDrones are becoming recognized as indispensable tools for public safety operations. As a result\, many towns and cities now own and operate their own. But having a drone program brings new responsibilities. \nDrones used for municipal purposes are aircraft operating in the National Airspace System. Drone programs can expose municipalities to liability – potentially significant – from personal injury or property damage lawsuits as well as Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) enforcement actions. Running a successful drone program means complying with FAA regulations that are unfamiliar to many people. And it means running the program in a way that doesn’t compromise governmental immunity or insurance coverage. \nThis presentation will explain the three different legal frameworks for operating a drone program along with the pros and cons of each\, outline the basic elements of a safe program\, provide an overview of applicable FAA regulations\, and highlight the most likely ways to inadvertently jeopardize the liability protections typically available to municipal departments and individual employees. \nClick here to register.
