Waterbury (August 10, 2012) — Domenico (Nick) Zaino, a partner at Carmody & Torrance LLP, was recently appointed as the Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) for the 2012 & 2013 bar years. Nick previously held the positions of Secretary and Vice-Chair of the section. He will be responsible for guiding the Executive Committee in the upcoming year.
The goals of the Labor and Employment Law Section are to promote legal analysis, dialogue, education, diversity and leadership among practitioners who represent individuals, unions, employers and agencies, or serve as neutrals.
Nick is the practice group leader of Carmody & Torrance’s Business Services group and has extensive experience in counseling, advising and training public and private employers on all aspects of the employment relationship. Nick advises employers on a wide range of matters such as compliance with anti-discrimination laws, managing employee leaves of absences, FMLA compliance, conducting workplace investigations, sexual harassment issues, retaliation and whistleblower issues, non-compete and confidentiality agreements, compliance with wage and hour matters, traditional labor law, unemployment compensation, severance agreements, downsizing and reductions-in-force, employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, and employee handbooks.
Nick has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the National Labor Relations Board and other divisions of the Connecticut and United States Departments of Labor. He regularly speaks and trains management personnel on a variety of employment-related topics.
It’s a testament to the reputation of our attorneys that many of them are selected as leaders in their areas of law, said Brian T. Henebry, managing partner. Nick’s knowledge and experience make him an excellent choice to lead the Labor and Employment Law Section’s Executive Committee.
