The 2011 edition of Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business ranks two of Carmody & Torrance practice areas and four attorneys in the top tiers in Connecticut. Chambers USA is published by Chambers and Partners, a third-party research and publishing company that conducts extensive interviews with clients and members of the legal community, then ranks U.S. law firms and attorneys.

Carmody’s labor and employment group was included this year for the second year in a row. Two attorneys, D. Charles Stohler, Giovanna Tiberii Weller, were highlighted for their extensive experience in labor and employment matters. Mr. Stohler was described in the publication as “a veteran of employment law, who knows the subject matter inside out” while Ms. Weller was described as “a great trial attorney – tenacious and confidence-inspiring.”

Described as “a well established team” with “extensive trial experience,” the litigation group was ranked again this for its general commercial and business disputes practice. Two individual litigators, Anthony Fitzgerald and James Robertson, were also highlighted. Regarding Mr. Fitzgerald, a peer described him as “a first-class trial lawyer and a terrific opponent.” Mr. Robertson, highlighted by Chambers USA for the past six years in a row, was noted for his arbitration and mediation experience.

“The research done by Chambers USA reflects that we’re achieving our goals; that is, to provide quality work and excellent client service at reasonable rates,” says Managing Partner Ann H. Rubin. “Clients’ expect more from their legal partners and I’m happy to say that we’re delivering.”
