The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection gave notice of a tentative decision to reissue without modification two wastewater general permits, the permit for Miscellaneous Discharges of Sewer Compatible Wastewater, and the permit for Categorical Industrial Users. Both permits are proposed to be extended to 2020. DEEP is accepting comments.
The General Permit for Miscellaneous Discharges of Sewer Compatible Wastewater applies to many common industrial and commercial wastewaters (e.g. contact and non-contact cooling water, boiler blowdown, tumbling and cleaning wastewater, water treatment wastewater, etc.) to the sanitary sewer. The Miscellaneous General Permit was first issued in 2001 and revised in 2013 and 2017. DEEP is extending the current permit until October 30, 2020. This reissued general permit does not require renewal registrations or feed for exiting registrants.
