Waterbury (December 10, 2012) — Carmody & Torrance LLP is pleased to announce that Gregg T. Burton has joined the firm as a partner. Gregg will be based in the firm’s New Haven office.

Gregg has extensive experience in business and commercial real estate transactions, including office, retail, multifamily and affordable housing development, leasing and financing. Among his notable experience, he served as counsel to the owner of a signature Hartford office tower in leases ranging from 5,000 to 400,000 square feet with regional and national tenants. He regularly serves as special counsel to regional and national law firms in the defeasance of securitized debt as part of the sale or refinancing of real estate and has presented workshops on commercial real estate loan defeasance.

Gregg serves as counsel for the Metro Green Residential development, a LEED certified multi-phase mixed-income housing development adjacent to the Stamford Transportation Center. He recently represented the owner/sponsor on the closing of a $35M debt and equity financing transaction, including low income housing tax credit equity investment, for the rehabilitation of Bayview Towers, a 200 unit affordable housing development also located Stamford, Connecticut.

Gregg is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut.
