Rick Street is a partner and serves as practice group leader of the Carmody & Torrance litigation group, which was named a “highly recommended” Connecticut litigation team in Benchmark Litigation’s Guide To Leading Business Litigation Firms and Attorneys. He primarily practices in utility, infrastructure, construction and land use law. Rick has tried numerous cases in state and federal court to conclusion and has regularly represented clients before administrative agencies. He has also mediated or arbitrated cases for clients who wish to resolve their disputes through alternative means.

Notable Experience

  • Integral member of team that successfully defended a public agency involved in a claim that a bridge contractor was wrongfully terminated. It was believed to be the largest construction claim ever made against that agency
  • Prosecuted dozens of condemnation actions in state court on behalf of an electric utility to allow for the expansion of its infrastructure within Connecticut
  • Argued an appeal on behalf of an electric generation company that protected its project’s lands from claims of adverse possession
  • Successfully tried a case in state court against an electric utility that its poles and wires were trespassing on the land of a property owner
  • Represented an electric utility in the investigation and defense of allegations that the operation of its equipment caused property damage or personal injury
  • Represented contractor in the resolution of numerous construction claims related to the construction of a cogeneration facility
  • Obtained the necessary regulatory approvals to allow for the reconstruction of a 115-kV electric transmission line by an electric utility
  • Frequently represented clients before the Freedom of Information Commission
