Our Firm

Giving Back in a Big Way

Carmody believes in the adage “doing well by doing good,” and we are committed to public interest work and volunteerism.  We invest our talent, time and enthusiasm in a wide variety of civic, charitable and nonprofit organizations in Connecticut and beyond.  By fostering community partnerships and relationships, we have been involved in exciting and meaningful nonprofit work involving urban education, public health, domestic and substance abuse, and human rights issues.

Providing Pro Bono Legal Assistance for over 100 Years

Pro bono legal representation is part of a long-standing tradition at Carmody, and we have a firm-wide policy that encourages and supports attorneys’ pro bono work. Illustrating our commitment, partners and associates provided over 1,400 hours in 2014 to pro bono matters to assist low-income or underserved individuals in the firm’s local communities.

We partner with various organizations, including Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, Inc. and Lawyers for Children America, to represent clients in various matters, from assisting in security deposit recovery and other civil litigation cases to holding legal clinics for clients representing themselves.

Other sources of pro bono work include:

  • Judicial Appointments by Federal and State Judges
  • Law Works for People
  • Statewide Legal Services
  • Connecticut Legal Services
  • Lawyers for Children America
  • Connecticut Judicial Department
