Dave Hardy is a partner in Carmody & Torrance's litigation group, which was named a “highly recommended” Connecticut litigation team in Benchmark Litigation’s Guide To Leading Business Litigation Firms and Attorneys.  He practices in the areas of commercial litigation including contract disputes, corporate governance disputes, insurance coverage, real estate and utility-related litigation. Dave has developed considerable experience in real estate valuation litigation and in representing participants in the highly regulated alcoholic beverages market. His practice includes state and federal court trials, appeals and administrative proceedings. Dave also serves as coordinator of the firm's paralegals.

Notable Experience

  • Obtained multi-million dollar judgment arising out of successful constitutional challenge to Bottle Bill amendments
  • On behalf of associated beer and soft drink wholesalers, successfully challenged unconstitutional amendments to Connecticut Bottle Bill 
  • Successfully tried quiet title action concerning ownership of commercial property, defeating claim of adverse possession
  • Resolution of numerous eminent domain actions through trial or settlement
  • Successful representation of policyholder against insurer, obtaining judgment for breach of duty to defend and indemnify under commercial general liability policy
  • Part of team that successfully enjoined state and local authorities from unlawfully interfering with federally authorized interstate natural gas pipeline project
